Vegan Awesome Sauce - Easy, Healthy Appetizer and Snack Recipe
Prep time 5 minutes | Total Time 10 minutes
Ingredients
1 cup of raw almonds - you should soak these in water for about 30 minutes before you start
1 cup of water
1/3 cup of sunflower oil or any oil that does not have a strong taste (grape seed oil works great)
Juice of 1 lemon or 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice
2 cloves of garlic
3 tablespoons of nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon of coriander
1/4 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
2 teaspoons or Bragg’s Liquid Aminos or Soy Sauce
Dash of Frank’s Hot Sauce or 1/4 t or chili powder
Instructions
1. Soak 1 cup of raw almonds in just enough water to cover them - soak for about 30 minutes
*If you aren’t using a high speed blender you may want to soak a bit longer as this will make them easier to blend (up to 2 hours)
2. Strain your almonds and add them to a high speed blender or food processor
3. Add all your ingredients into the blender as follows:
add in 1/3 cup of sunflower or grape seed oil
2-3 T of lemon juice
2 cloves of coarsely chopped garlic - if you are lazy you can use garlic powder!
3 T of nutritional yeast
1/4 teaspoon of coriander
1/4 teaspoon of paprika
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
2 teaspoons or Bragg’s Liquid Aminos or Soy Sauce
Dash of Franks Hot Sauce or 1/4 t of chili powder
optional - cilantro or parsley for garnish
4. Process in your blender by starting on low speed and gradually going to high speed. In a high speed blender you will process for about 1 full minute total. If you are using a food processor you may need to process longer and scrape down the sides. Process until it is very smooth.
5. Garnish with cilantro if you want it to look extra pretty and serve with vegetables and crackers. 1
Notes and Adjustments!
This is a perfect recipe to put your own personality into! If you don’t like the herbs I used change it up- Some combinations I like are cilantro and lime or adding in green curry powder in place of the other spices. You can use this as a dip, a sandwich spread or even a dressing. You can add more or less water or oil to change the consistency. It will firm up while it is refrigerated so keep that in mind. This is ALWAYS a hit when I serve it- Enjoy!
